Quote from: GrahamB on July 29, 2023, 08:15:45 AMI'm a professional Luddite so bear with me.

Is this the "new" forum or the interim forum? I've just noticed I've lost all my thread alerts. This seems to be a very low resolution version, the font takes me back to Sinclair ZX81 days.

Can you screenshot for me please?  It's clear and crisp for me.
Ummmm. I'm going to need tuition for that. It's clear but a larger font size than other forums I'm on.

@GrahamB  For me the font size on here comes out the same as RMWeb (just a random other forum I chose to compare).
If you're seeing something significantly different then maybe it's a setting in your browser?

I just played with increasing the font size in my Edge browser and it remembered the setting after I closed and re-opened the tab for NGF, and it didn't affect any other browser tabs.  I suggest play with your browser's font size options?

I use Chrome. Tried moving the font size to small and all pages went small. Using your screen scrape, do you not see what, to me, looks like a very old font?

I guess I'll get used to it in time.

I also accessed RMWeb as I have an account but don't use it. My anti virus software told me it saved me from no end of issues  :D I guess it must like the NGF as well as it's never done that here.

I use Chrome on other PCs (just this spanking new laptop is running Win 11 and Edge).  Comparing the font with some old screenshots of the old forum I'm not seeing any obvious difference.

Chrome also allows me to change the font size of a specific tab without affecting the other tabs.  Use Ctrl+  or Ctrl-   rather than the Chrome Settings > Appearance font settings which are global settings.

When you use Ctrl+ or -  the browser should show you a small pop-up with the size increase/decrease (125%, 150% etc.) so see if it thinks the NGF pages are at something larger than 100% ?

What were you asking - where are the options, or what do they do?

The "Reacted" bar shows how active that particular user is in terms of clicking the thumbs up/down/smilie/saddie/heart/tick/cross etc. buttons when "reacting" to other people's posts.

The bar can be Green, Red or a mix of both. The colours in the bar indicates the way the person shows their reactions: Green represents positive responses (thumbs up's), Red shows negative responses (thumbs down's). The more Green it shows, the more positive responses. More Red, more negative.

I've noticed that most people on here only show positive responses to other people's posts, so most users only show a full Green bar.

If you hover your pointer over the colours a popup shows the total number of positive/negative reactions that person has delivered across the entire site.

The simplest way I've found for adding my images when using a laptop (no idea about phones, sorry) is to go into your own My Gallery, find the button at the bottom that says "Bulk Add Pictures" and bookmark that page in your browser so you can easily find it again in the future!

You can add one or many images by simply dragging them into the box on the Bulk Add Pictures page.

You then have to return to your My Gallery - there is a button to do that on the Bulk Add Pictures, then go to each image in turn and copy the first link under the image into your message. After you do it half a dozen times it becomes a fairly quick process.

many thanks for that, I had not noticed it on posts, but on the senders info to the left of a pm.

I still don't know what the 'message' icon means to the left of the time/date on my posts, though I do notice that posts no longer seem to have numbers.

As to the first bit, I clicked on the 'Message' icon and it gave me some extra options for emojis.
Posts do have numbers in the top right hand corner which is how I know your post was number #249 :D

Browning 9mm

thanks, Mick.
number has just been moved, I hadn't noticed.
re the message icon, I clicked on it to see if it meant I had a message, but like you just got the emojis.
I was confused as to why it only seemed to appear against my posts, and had no connection with messages.

just one of life's mysteries I guess.

If it's any consolation, I'm struggling with this at times, too.

We'll just have to get used to it, I guess.  :beers:

Having had 12 years of the 'old' I must admit I still struggle slightly with no 'See all unreadposts' and instead looking top right for 'Unreadposts' but especially I still look for 'Logout' on the main toolbar.
Some of the Mods duties are now somewhat different so please bear with us old fogies while we get used to things.
There's no manual!!!

Thanks, Mick. Summed up nicely.
