A brilliant comedian, who took the urine out of everything, including his own country.

It didn't really get the mention it deserved over here, IMHO.
I always remember as Sir Les he was asked "How low can you get?"
He replied "I can parachute out of a snake's arse without free falling"

I was a student in Durham in 1971 when I first saw his name attached to the Barry Mackenzie comic strip in Private Eye.

Prompted my move to Australia!

I was on breakfast shift at Pebble Mill and was heading to the canteen for breakfast. I got the lift from the first floor to go to the 7th. When the doors opened Bazza, done up as Edna was standing there. He was over 6' and wearing his blue rinse wig. Not a sight to see before your first coffee. I asked him if he was on Pebble Mill at one and we chatted in his own voice for a minute. A really nice guy.
