Whiles trying to progress my own project work, I have been helping my wife with her cross stich project. She is creating a series of kits with everything included to do a sampler or a picture. While this has nothing to do with N Gauge, she has decided that a couple of railway themed kits would be appropriate.

She hasn't stitched either of these yet, so they will not be available from her for the time being, but here are the designs.

These were quite difficult to fit into the 6" x 4" size she is working to, but what do people think. Should she have a go with these.

Hi Bob,

Nice work.  Being a single chap though I just wonder where the appeal would lie?
I can only see a market for railways buff's other halves but although my ex used to crochet I think if I had got her one my demise would have been hastened :o

I am not sure how well the viaduct one will come out but the other looks very good.

I have done some cross stitch during my numerous recuperations, I found it very satisfying , it passed the time brilliantly and when finished I had a good feeling of a job well done.

cheers John.

Sounds like a grand idea. :A1Tornado:

I too am a single chap, who is going out on his first date this coming friday in about, nearly three years. She is a 36 year old languages teacher,so thats just going to be the one and only date then!
I am of the type who speaks loudly and slowky to anyone who can't speak gods language so she's got her work cut out with me.Haven't told her I'm into toy trains, noe have my mate and his woman,Got to keep summat back, haven't I?
I don't think I'll be venturing an opinion from her on this but I think that if this is the sort of thing people go for, then do it.Nothing ventured and all that.
It might even be an idea to take some along to an exhibition you are attending to see if there is a market among railway modellers for them. You just never know,it might sell very well indeed.
Just a thought.

We are looking at taking some to the N Gauge Show in September.............................

The MU one looks terrific. I do think the steam on the viaduct one obscures a bit too much of the train. A Brighton Belle going over the Ouse viaduct would look good too.
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

From the amount of females I see at preserved railways and exhibitions I would say there is a market for them other than true railway enthusiasts.

To be honest I agree with Pendy re the viaduct one, your wife has done a great job on the other so may I suggest the angled nose of the most famous loco of all time "Mallard" might be a bigger seller.

Just a thought  ???
