Bachmann have today announced a newly tooled Class 47 in OO.

Interestingly, Bachmann are saying that all models, regardless of catalogue number, will be offered in either sound or non-sound form, unlike previously where certain models were available in sound only or non-sound only.

They have tooled a whole number of different sub-classes.

Two speakers fitted, in all models.

Roof mounted engine bay fans are motorised, a first for British outline RTR apparantly, with with etched grills with an impressive interwoven mesh effect.  The fans operate randomly or manually and the sound models will reflect their operation from the sound chip.

They are also quoted as saying that they have invested around £1million in the project.

A plethora of EPs are on show in the video.

Best

Scott.

If you know someone who's depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn't a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather.Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they're going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It's hard to be a friend to someone who's depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do."

Not being interested in sound I object to paying for one speaker so I'd certainly object to two of the blighters!!

In addition, the first batch production is complete and models arriving this quarter to be announced tomorrow.

Very nice!

Working fans have been a thing for about 20 years in 4mm - Sanda Kan did them on a number of models, including at least Hornby's 56.

Adding speakers to all locos is probably cheaper than setting up two different production variants (for one with and one without speakers), particularly if it makes using the same circuit board easier.

Cheers Mike

Yes.  I picked it up wrong, it seems. Apologies.  It's the twin fans interacting with the decoder that is the inovation, now that I read it again.

I read after the summer announcement that the Autumn one would be a N Gauge special, I think it was Osbourne models that posted that comment.
Fingers crossed.  :claphappy:

It's also interesting that there are three price points; "DCC-ready", "Sound Fitted" and "Sound Fitted Deluxe" and it's only the deluxe which gets the separately motor driven fans (and reflective glazing and what not). I think I'm right in saying the Hornby 56's fans were linked to the motor - loco moving = fans moving. They're separately powered on the 47.

Here's hoping that such a significant OO announcement today is about leaving tomorrow clear to mark 50 years of Farish with some big news for us N Gaugers .

It would be very strange for Bachmann to steal all their own thunder a day early

I'm betting on a retooled 94xx- in the OO range and an important loco in the Farish history

Wouldn't mind more sound adaptions of Diesel toolings and a DCC ready 08 either but not long to wait

£1m in the project and announced a day early??

Blimey, that leaves me wondering whether tomorrow's announcements as far as N goes will be anything of significance after all!

Mavbe we'll get some RTP beach huts complete with DCC controlled pooping seagulls?
