Paypal take their share naturally, but I certainly don't consider them to be "crooks". It's made life so easy with my online buying, and not just on ebay either 

I've been doing this for a couple of months, it works well. eBay do hang onto your money for a couple of days, which is making people a bit angry, but then they just transfer it to your linked account net of fees. If you list on a £1 listing weekend (if not, why not?!) you pay nothing else, just the £1 fee. They even discount for multiple purchases. I laid £2.60 fees on three items sold to the same person.

I'm happy.
