Just a quick question.
Are the Car343 and Thrush in the Castle set any different to the ones supplied separately.  Reason I ask is there is one on Ebay described as 'super detailed with lighting'. So was lighting fitted to the seperately sold items?

The only Farish coach with any sort of factory lighting is the recent Mk2 DBSO.

The Mk1 Pullmans have dummy table-lamps included - one of the pictures on the eBay page shows them in the plastic bag.

There is a chance that they've been added by their previous owner.

Ask the seller for a picture of them working!

You can find grey roof versions of the same coaches in stock in most model shops for around £35.

The Mk1 Pullmans were the first of Bachmann's Blue-Ribbon standard coaches. They were first released in 2007 (priced about £18!) with re-runs every year or three.

They don't have the close coupling mechanism of the standard Mk1 coaches but otherwise they're up to the same standard. The included detailing pack includes air-brake equipment and turned brass table lamps.

Hi Steven,
I am modelling the SR about 1960, and ideally like two rakes, One made up of few Pullman with some Std Mk1 in green. My first choice would be based on this B&W picture from the era, Crimson & Cream, not sure what they are, with some Bullied coaches in green again. I'm no expert as you can tell !!

None of my curves are less than 24" so close coupled shouldn't be an issue.

The Farish Mk1 based Pullmans date from a 1960 build for BR(E) - they were mainly used on the East Coast Main Line.

To be accurate you probably should be looking for the Poole era models - catalogue numbers 0646 and 0656. Watch out it looking for these on eBay. Farish also produced them in OO Gauge.

They also seem to have produced them with two very different interpretations of what the Cream colour was, going by those listed on EvilBay some were produced with a very pale washed out version of Cream, whilst some were much darker and creamier. Unless their paint was prone to fading.

Also there is a clip on Youtube 1960 era with the Oval shaped end windows, as you say probably better for my timing.
