I have a loose fitted piece of scenery which is an access for track below in case of derailments, size approx. 9"x6".
It is situated just outside of a Manor House boundary wall, the surrounding area being grass and a road.
Nearby is a tunnel portal.
I am asking for suggestions for something to place within the loose area to provide a grab point to lift out the block. I had thought of a smoke stack from the tunnel but it is quite near to the tunnel portal (6").
Any ideas please?

One or two trees should do the job, if well anchored to the scenery.

Alternatively, bury a piece of steel plate in the scenery and use a magnet on a stick?

Much depends on era and what you want to spend. A old concrete pillbox (many of them are listed buildings nowadays so can't be demolished), a scratchbuilt 'folly' and a war memorial all spring to mind

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
The small area 9" x 6" is enclosed by walls/hedges with no pedestrian access so need something to suit.
Keep trying all gratefully received.

That's about the size of a small church yard,  so how about a ruined church  which was abandoned long enough ago not to have grave stones..

That's a good idea - especially as it'd be next to the manor house.

What's the chunk of scenery made from?

If it's lightweight polystyrene or something similar,  it's not necessary to have anything at all. You could lift it out by the hedges/vegetation at the side, or at the very worst, prise it out gently with a screwdriver at the edge.

I have a much bigger chunk on my layout which I remove in this manner.

I have a lift out section made of polystyrene.  On the top of the hill is a church yard
I have put a plastic tube through the polystyrene  and glued it to the underside.  It  protrudes through the top and is hidden by the church  which is hollow (Metcalfe).  Works well.
