down at Tesco's this afternoon, and got a few bottles of this, after reading many recommendations on this forum



but it is  for cleaning track.

what am I doing wrong 

I was sure there would be some smart - rear - end comments, but no.

so, I decided that as it came out of the beer aisle, I'd drink it..



and you know what, my track is no cleaner, but now I couldn't give a water retaining earth and stone / concrete structure

I've always enjoyed Greene King IPA as a decent quaffing ale without it blowing your head off

guess I need to go down the chemists for the track cleaner 

Your tongue shouldn't be as abrasive as a track rubber (I think)
Mind you, having read some of your posts in the Angry Thread I might have to retract that

Absolutely, BUT the hoppiness should be well balanced with other flavours.

Over here they've taken IPA and turned it into an abomination of hops, the stuff is so bitter that it's undrinkable.
The hop overdrive is so extreme here, that Duvel Moortgat make a special Triple Hopped version of Duvel.

Why, why, why 

Why take perfection in a glass and compromise it for some morons who don't know what beer should taste like.
Maybe this should be in the angry thread?

When the pubs reopened here there was no VB on tap anywhere for a week, so I tried an IPA. 

In the early days of my apprenticeship at BT we had to go and fix a phone at the Greene King brewery in Biggleswade, i always remember how they just had barrels of IPA tapped for drinking by the workers around the place. Being only 16 I wasn't allowed to sample it by my minder, didn't stop him having a few while we worked.

I was on about the american so called beer experts who complain that  english ipa is not hoppy enough,too weak,wrong colour,too warm  because only they know what an ipa is.Still give em credit,they made cloudy dishwater,sorry neipa,trendy. And dont get me started on black ipa's.

I think the best description of GK IPA is "Gnats ****"....

However, the "IPA Reserve" that GK do in bottled form is a much better drink and actually tastes like an IPA should do!
Same goes for the watered down Abbott that they sell nowadays, that bears no resemblance to what I used to drink 40 years ago. The "Abbott Reserve" is the better drink.
