On behalf of mum and our family, i would like to say thank you for all the kind messages and emails following dads passing.

I think mum was a little surprised and overwhelmed by the number, and especially seeing so many from the UK.

He was a true railway man and he loved his South Maitland Railways, especially their amazing 10 class steam locos which ran up to 1984 as the last commercial steam railway, hauling coal from Cessnock to Maitland and also from their depot at Hexham across to Stockrington. He joined in i think 1957 as a 16yr old and worked right up to its closure.

He also loved his mini trains, something the whole family enjoyed too. He was instrumental in restoring some truly amazing steam locomotives and hopefully was able to pass on some of his knowledge to others.

Thank you!

My sincerest condolences, Aaron.

It sounds as though he will be sorely missed in the Hunter Valley railway community.

With sympathy

I'm so sorry to hear this Aaron, I know you loved spending time together with your trains.  All the best to your family.
