I'm new to N gauge and there seems to be masses of choice for GWR Panniers, I just can't find a new Prairie. Anyone know any shop that has a new Prairie? Why, when you can find various  designs of Prairie in OO without a problem, is there a dearth of Prairies?

Be interested to hear people's thoughts on this.

Welcome to N Gauge!!!!!

The market is smaller so there is less available in N than OO.

The working assumption appears to be that the N gauge market is about 10 times smaller than the OO one.

Manufacturers also tend to produce in batches, so usually something will arrive on the market in large numbers, and unless it proves unpopular, will disappear after a while, and you'll either have to wait an unknown period of time for the next batch, or find something second-hand.

The Dapol 45xx and the older Farish 51xx are often available on eBay, although neither is up to the standard of more recent releases.

I think that the prairies are no longer produced so your only chance is to buy second hand.
The smaller 45xx praries (Dapol) are more recent but the larger (51xx) series is much older.
Welcome to the forum by the way.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

As I am in isolation and it is Day 2 I opened a box and discovered 2 X Dapol Prairies, Im sure there was only 1 when I put them away a few years ago.

Be patient they breed in captivity.
