Well unfortunately by the end of the year i will be moving as the in laws want there house back so not knowing where or how much space i'll have i will have to stop further construction on my layout as it could be a waste of time and money. my only option could be a club i have seen the website for the SDMRS but can't find any contact details on the site
http://www.sdmrs.org.uk/intro.htm

I am a little gutted i possibly will have no layout but i can continue collecting locos and stock etc for the day i can have space for a layout

If you still want to run the odd train in the meantime, suggest getting some Kato Unitrack as it is dead easy to clip and unclip together.
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

That's bad luck.  Hope you find the perfect attic or spare room.

One of the reasons for building microlayout bits as well. Surely you've got a shoebox somewhere...

You can get a small shunting layout in a shoebox, although a bit more space is good !

For example Aeonian Hills is 3' x 5" plus a bit of wood with track on it that is the fiddle yard (the fiddle stick as it were) which is a platform, run around loop and shunting puzzle. If you make the fiddle yard the other end of the run around then you can get down even smaller.

So I'd go look at some of the other microlayouts on here and on carendt.us before despairing. They also work out very cheap to produce and can later be integrated into something bigger.
