Last year I completed a 6ft shelf layout named "Taviport Junction" and since then have been looking out for something a bit more substantial to get my teeth into. Then a couple of weeks ago I came across a part built display layout in North Devon. The builder had apparently passed away and his wife was looking for a decent donation to Cancer Research in exchange for the model and sundries (no rolling stock unfortunately). I lost my wife to cancer a few years ago and so I decided to take on this project which was being advertised by a 3rd party.
I collected it, and the many boxes of scenic items and have just started to bring it back to life. The build is quite professionally done and all the many wires have been skilfully tied and routed. However, the wiring is incomplete on a siding that incorporates a Peco turntable and I am having trouble with my limited knowledge working out quite what was proposed or whether there is a fault, and also whether the 12v motor under the turntable is actually suitable as it flies round at about 10rpm! I wonder whether it should be powered through a separate controller?
The builder very helpfully, kept some very neat notes, but may have strayed from these as he went.
I have contacted those people who may know the layout in the Bideford/Barnstaple area, but without a name of the builder, have drawn a blank, although the layout seems to be called "Highfield Road".
Is there an enthusiast in the West Devon area who may be prepared to help me work out the wiring, or give me a few pointers? I really want to complete the electrics before I progress onto the scenery.

Tried a separate power supply and controller on the turntable and it worked, so presumably that is what the builder envisioned doing.

I use a similar motor/gearbox combination, controlled by one of my gaugemaster  controllers which can be switched to and from track control to line up the tracks, as I have not got round to making an indexing system even though I motorised the turntable over 3 years ago!

I have now managed to breath life into the reluctant siding! I now just need to work out the wiring for the small extension beyond the turntable, and the lighting to that engine shed! I finally feel th at I may be winning!
