Stick insect, on the wall not far from my layout. Don't ask me which end is the head! 

I suspect the top. We have some weird critters here!

As long as you don't find a Blue Bottle siphonophore, you'll be OK.. 

Is there any Aussie wildlife which isn't weird? 

None as weird as the one who visited you in Tokyo
