Within the past 3 weeks or so, three Bachmann Farish split chassis (with the ex-Poole body) Class 40s were offered by Hatton's "pre-owned" for around £60 each.

All three of them had been very nicely weathered with an airbrush, with the noses getting a little extra brushed on weathering.  Even nicer was that on all of them, one bogie had been fully detailed with air hoses, coupling hooks and screw link couplings.  It's a very, very nice and tidy job on all of them by someone who knew what he was doing.

Needless to say, as each one came up on offer, I bought it, and so I have a very nicely detailed and weathered set of Class 40s which all run quite nicely, and for which I feel I got for a good price considering the quality of the detailing work.

Given the consistency and similarity of the work, I feel certain they were all detailed by the same person.  I have attached a few pictures.  One of the models had an "R" scratched into the chassis and onto the bottom of the water tank.

My question is if anyone recognizes these models or the workmanship?  Because whoever did the work deserves a commendation for a job well done.

The bogeys have also been thinned from the usual over sized mess

Actually, no, they haven't.  Having looked at them I can confirm the bogies are wholly unmodified except for the weathering, the addition of the detailing bits on one end, and on two of of the 40s, a filing down of the buffer faces to remove the plastic moulding seam lines.

Perhaps you are thinking of the over-wide bogies of the Farish Peaks?  Both the Farish split chassis 40s and Peaks have over-wide bogies, but between the two, the Peaks are noticeably worse.
