I think if an appropriate framework is used it looks like it could protrude sufficiently to cause annoyance at exhibitions. All is not lost

For exhibition or heritage rail use, all it needs to hold is a Thermos, a piece or two, some mints, and a place to put all the new purchases you can't resist picking up.

Anything else can be carried by the lady herself.

Just to be clear, "a piece" does not mean anything else than a sandwich. It's a Scottish slang term. I'm not a Scot but have spent many a happy day in that fair land, and even got married there on the Isle of Skye, so it's just a term I've adopted at times.

Definitely worth the clarity for any US users who may well be "packing"!

I wouldn't bother with the thermos.Get yourself a cuppa en route or at the venue. It would be taking up valuable space for more purchases.

Very nice bag is that but if Anne gets you a pair of matching hiking boots start to worry! it could be a coded message

If Anne is like my wife then the first items in the pack would be raincoats, folding brolly, sunscreen, insect repellent, water then anything else I want.
