Hello members, i have thought it's about time i had a name for My New Layout, i can't keep calling it that forever lol.

So i have thought of some names which i feel my be suitable, but if any member can think of a better one i will take it on board. I do have a favourite "Long Valley" but i have had so much good response from members on both my layouts i would like to involve them in my decision.

:thankyousign:        :)

Hi Steamie+,

Sorry but I forget which is your layout as so many on here (link or description) as would help my brain with a name.

Thanks weave  :beers:

Chris Morris

We need to know where your layout is based. For instance if it was in Wales you might want to call it Cwmhir which may be Welsh for long valley. Maybe Nansbras in Cornish (apologies to Cornish speakers if this is wrong. Langdale might work for northern England.
What I'm suggesting is maybe find an ancient expression for long valley in the area of the country you are modelling.
Working doesn't seem to be the perfect thing for me so I'll continue to play.

North West Lancashire, if you look at my layout it may give you ideas.

Getting ready for work now, see you all later.      :)

Of the choices you've given, I like "Long Valley". It depends how the scenery works out though, like if it is a valley with that long viaduct over it (assuming I'm looking at the right pictures).

Cheers,
Ivor

You are Ivor, bit disappointed i haven't had a better response with over 156 views, but only 12 votes, still i am grateful to all the members who have taken part and suggested other names.

Steamie+

Hi Steamie+,

What about Teaton Valley, Cupperville, or (PG) Tipton on the Kettle to Carlisle railway  :).

Seriously though, I voted for Long Valley as couldn't think of anything else as I don't know that part of the world at all and think it's nice if a name has local meaning.

12 votes isn't bad. I've seen worse. The British public voting, naaah.

Enjoy your brew. Will still try and think of something on my ciggie breaks.

Cheers weave  :beers:

Well after a think it has come down to two.

"Long Valley" or "Longdale"

"Longdale"  being a combination of "Long Valley" and Lunedale from a suggestion by Mick.

Hi Steamie

To be honest, the names on your list are all pretty bland I'm afraid. I suggest that your name doesn't have to be sensible, or local, or non descript, but I think it is better to be something that is more memorable. Weave's suggestion of Tipton on the Kettle to Carlisle is a good one. Anyway, you don't need to be in a rush to choose a name. After all, you can always change it later if something 'better' comes  along.

Thank you for your input Webbo, i don't really need to i know, but i want a name to the layout, MNL is just like a lot of others really...boring. Sensible and the rest are really what i think is best for me, don't get me wrong, Weave's is brilliant but to long for me, short and sweet just like me...lol..

Hi Steamie+,

Forgot to post yesterday but was watching the football results and Blackburn were playing Blackpool so thought maybe Blackmere Valley or summit like that.

Just an idea.
