Evening All!

Rummaging through my box of bits & pieces, accumulated as you do for the day they will be useful, I found several bags of PN65 7.0mm wheelsets. Does anyone have an idea what they fit or what I had in mind at the time? The axle length seems right for Farish, but the wheels are a larger diameter than any coaches or wagons I have.

Thanks for your bright ideas,
Nigel

They are for some Mk1 coach bogies (Commonwealth and possibly BR1 IIRC).

I did the same - bought several packs for "projects" but never got to it.
Problem was, quite a few of mine seem to have lost the tyres......a long job now securing them again.
I suspect temperature variation in the workshop / shed had a lot to do with it.

7mm would be the correct coach size for most coaches of all regions/companies before the arrival of the BR B4 bogie, being the first to use smaller sized wheels of the same size as most wagons.

However, because of clearance issues most N gauge RTR coaches have used smaller wagon sized wheels and only the latest Farish blue riband (Stanier/Mk1) types use the correct sized wheels where they are appropriate.

Perhaps you bought them to use with some etched bogies/coach kits?

Thanks for the tips/info.
Several had lost their tyres, but a 6mm (I think) nut was just the right size to accept the tyre and support the flange whilst pressing the wheel in. They roll again nicely with very little or no wobble.

Happy Modelling!
