So, I bought an N gauge tram from a trader at an exhibition, which turned out to be dodgy  won't go into the details of who sold it to me here and how it was implied to me (but not directly stated) that it was almost good as new as I doubt my language would be suitable for a family site  The moral to the story, I suppose, is trust no-one, test everything and buyer beware...

Anyhoo, taking off the body, it looks like the problem may be that some tiny wires are missing or detached, which are supposed to join the two halves of the circuit board (its an articulated tram with a circuit board in each half). They are very tiny, probably less than 1mm apart from each other.

I'm not an experienced solderer so me doing it would be a last (and no doubt catastrophic) resort. So, does anyone have any suggestions on firms or individuals who may be capable of soldering something this small, and whether it's even worth attempting it?

its the little coloured wires joining the two halves in this picture (p.s this is not my tram as I can't photograph it at the minute, just a pic I've temporarily borrowed)

Not a problem to do so certainly worth doing. Anyone experienced in soldering fine electronics or brass kit could do this. Don't know if you have a model club nearby but there should be someone who can help. Failing that, I can do it for you if you want.

Failing anything else, there are still one or two TV repair shops around - although you may have to look a bit to find one. They'd be able to do it.

i saw one at a model tram exhibition on saturday (it was just on display there).

if you want to replicate a tram which just had some kind of electrical fire on one of the roof components i'd be happy to try soldering it for you.
