Hi Given the 4mm news I contacted Kernow to see if a smaller version on the cards :
Dear Mr Shrives,
I would imagine there's a fair chance that Bachmann may choose to make it as a general release in the future, but think it very unlikely that we would take it on as sole distributor for the comparatively small N gauge market. That will of course be for Bachmann to decide some time down the line and will also probably depend on how our sales of the OO version go.

was the response.

However at GCR event had chance to ask same of staff on Bachamann stand and not quite a absolute no but it was noted market size prevented an real likelyhood.

Well hopefully when dapol 33 hits the market place a re think or prayers will be answered.

Cheers

This is certainly something that I am interested in and would buy at least one if it was ever to become available.  Surely not too difficult to achieve as they were converted from standard loco hauled Mk.1 stock?

In 4 mm three new tools were required for bodyshells, given two are identical I guess the only parts to cross over from exsisting tooling will be bogies and some underframe parts.  This thus makes it an expensive project.

If Dapol were to start it would be all new tooling but with benefit that liveries would match.
With 4 or 5 liveries to be going at it might be worthwhile. But with Bachamann keeping cards close who knows what they will really do.

There were three new moulds for the 4-CEP too, and that too has very similar coaches in the middle of the 4-car unit to Mk 1 stock, because that's where they came from.

(I hesitate to say they were identical as there will be a bright spark on here who will tell me that the roof mouldings were different and the underframes bits were also different)

However, the three moulds used meant we got a more accurate job.

Bob et al,

That is why I never say never having done a 4CEP its not that big a leap to 4TC and shoving an RU  vice TF gets a REP - albeit needing a motor car but alteast 4CEP gives a ready to rock mech, perhaps reducing set up costs.... No brainer to me given its not my money !!!

I've been looking at overlaying BHE sides onto the 4-CEP bodies and replacing the CEP style ends with the fibreglass rounded ends of the CIG/VEP/TC/REP era using TPM resin ends or BHE cast ends to make a TC and a REP. The brass sides are just a little bit short of depth, but not far off.

If you put both power units into the REP it should fly like the old ones used to do! And the unpowered TC can be dragged around by a Crompton with bagpipes.

And if you are clever, you might even be able to retain the headcode lights in the TC/REP units.

Unsurprisingly some of the coach windows are even in the same places.  :D

Hi ,
Yes much the same solution as I was working towards - I got some CEPcars of Ebay a while back and was going to graft into some clearsides with TPM etched sides and I have in the gloat box some of the rounded ended cab fronts.

Given my rate of progress this will be a runner when Bachmann announce it... perhaps I should restart work sooner...

Exactly. I almost finished my 4-CEP using TPM inlays when...Farish announced theirs!
so if we all build TCs and REPs, you know what will happen!
