Picked up that things are not so good around 'Bealman country' with the storms and floods.

Hope things aren't too bad and folk are safe.

Canberra where I live is at an elevation of about 600 meters so no problem here with waves bashing down houses. We have had a couple of days of solid rain that is fairly unusual and is causing quite a few roofs to leak, but no significant damage otherwise. Closeby, some fool in a 4-wheel drive tried to drive across a flooding creek and managed to drown himself. Sad for his family, but I suppose a small upside is that the average intelligence in the world increased a little on his demise. Unfortunately, some people on the NSW coast and in Tasmania are having a pretty tough time of it judging by the TV vision and reports. Australia truly is a land of drought, fire and flood.

We copped it in Qld on Saturday, except for the usual destruction on the Gold Coast we faired pretty well, its amazing how Tassie has flooded because its only three or four weeks ago that the farmers were talking about shooting their cattle because of a drought,.

Bealman

Yeah, Dave, it was a bit rough at the weekend, Chez Bealman is right next to a creek which the council only clear out about once every 20 years. It rose quite quickly but was very fast flowing and the house was never in any real danger. Quite a few places in our area copped it, though. Today the usual blue skies have returned.

From what Tank is saying, it seems like we sent it over to you folk!

Webbo, as a Victorian SES member don't know how many times its been said: don't go into flood waters unless absolutely necessary.
You can't see how much sewage is coming down, submerged trees, other rubbish, dead animals......snakes!!!
As you rightly observed the deceased has contributed to the World by increasing its IQ (very slightly).
PS Members in UK. Same goes for floodwaters in your back yard.
