a blade that is too blunt to cut card cleanly, will easily slice through a finger  ???

I assume that a recent experience has prompted your musings?

Next time you are wielding the craft knife, put PP Arnold, "the first cut is the deepest" on the sound track  ;D

You push extra hard on a blunt blade so if your finger gets in the way it does serious damage.

NB  1) a sharp blade cut heals up faster than a blunt blade cut.

NB  2) If I cut my finger I glue it with superglue.  After all thats what they invented it for during the Vietnam war.

My tag-line on another forum I go on is - 'Keep your tools sharp.  That way you use your strength to guide them, not to force the cut.'
There, end of smart-ass bit, sorry to hear about that, hope it's not too serious...

Whats even worse is when you run a blade along a steel ruler and cut the top off your finger, then have to go and do a gig as a guitarist, my how the pain lingers. :'(

I happened to watch an old Wheeler Dealers today and Mike helped make new carpets. While he was cutting, using the knife in his right hand, his left hand was holding the material down - and he was wearing a light, chain-mail glove on it. I'd like a set of those!
