At the York show there was an 08 in either G or 1 scale on display (not an expert on big stuff I'm afraid) and it was even more tempting than the Dapol O gauge one we all now want. An outstanding model with incredible detail and characterful weathering (no I don't have any photos of it). Got me wondering if I could have a garden layout. I probably could.

I saw that too and directed my wife to admire it! Also saw an 'O' 4F with sound that was rather good.

Like the sounds of MGRs, GNER.

On the Tower Models website, they are asking for folks who pre-ordered a blue 08 with them to specify whether they want pre-tops or post-tops. If you pre-ordered a blue one, I suggest going to the website http://www.tower-models.com and clicking "Contact Us".

On their Dapol 08 page there is a neat table that shows the differences between the various versions that are being produced.

I pre-ordered with Tower when it was first announced as BR Blue with Wasp Stripes. I have now specified 08 202 post-tops version and I can't wait... It looks fantastic (speedo cable excepted, not that I'd have known :-[ ).

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

Hi,
Having handled prototype model it is very good -yes it has a mix of doors and hinge straps but so did the real ones in later life! It is very heavy compared to the N gauge one but I guess £ for pound it is very good value and certainly a lovely shelf queen but is prompting pre-sales.
The Terrier has been the best seller for Dapol and 08 is going the same way.

This is the joy of the hobby - ability to dabble where the fancy takes you.

I am waiting for arrival today of a Gauge one Brighton belle! - a really big shelf queen !

I'll say! The N-gauge version is about 75 cm long and mine takes up so much room I usually just run it as a 2-car formation. How big is the gauge-1 version? Where are you going to run it?

SO far, this has lead to two of the fab Lionheart 16 ton minerals appearing at the front door... http://www.lionhearttrains.com/availablemodels.php?id=2

It has been mentioned that O and N are kind of bedfellows it that the really do offer the little and large scenario.....pity for me my main interest is supposed to be 4mm stuff  :worried:
