Just had notification from ehattons that Dapol J72 has been cancelled. Guess I will have to go for the Farish version. :beers:
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

To be fair the Dapol version has been cancelled since September so it's a surprise that it's taken this long for hattons to update the website.

Didn't know this thanks. My only worry with the Farish version is the shade of green on the OO picture they're using. I have no idea if prototypical but don't like it.

I'm going for the BR black version with late crest.

To be fair, I don't think Dapol spent a lot of time advertising its withdrawl. The reason they took it down now is I emailed and had them check with Dapol directly. I also got, in addition to the cancellation email, a personal message from Ben Ashwin (who is very highly recommended by me for service at Hattons) apologizing for the mistake and for the delay in checking, which was only about five days; I had told him there was absolutely no hurry in checking and they have a huge volume of correspondence daily, so I thought the fact that he had remembered my message and bothered to send a personal message, knowing I would get the preorder cancelation email anyway, was very kind.

If you're referring to the one in light (LNER) green with BR markings, it was prototypical. There were two painted like that for use as the York and Newcastle Station Pilots.

Hmmm - which of these 2 will be done ?  Will have to get one :D

Thanks for that, it makes me feel slightly better. Were many locos painted that light LNER green? Or was it specific to that class? I don't remember seeing any in preservation that colour. That's why I love this forum, there's always someone happy to help the beginners like me. I wish my knowledge of all things railways was better.

In LNER days, plenty!

In BR days, something similar was one of the 1948 experimental liveries applied to various locos including a couple of LMS Jubilees and I think something GW.
Later on there the two 72s as mentioned plus I think it was an N-something for Pilot duties at one of the London termini.

Joem, a preserved J72, wears a BR livery that appears to be LNER green, or something similar:

I've seen Joem a few times and would love for it to be produced as she is in preservation. As far as I am aware that colour is LNER Apple green? Which looks to be a very different colour from the other colour. Joem seems to have the same colour as worn by Tornado and Scotsman.
Very happy to be corrected as I have said above I only have limited knowledge. :)

The Liverpool St pilot, J69 E8619 lettered 'BRITISH RALWAYS' was in LNER green from 1/1948 to 6/1953. It then had a spell in black before becoming GER blue. The other pilot, N7 69614, was not repainted green but was lined black throughout, I think.
