I was looking through my collection of articles from the NGS journal for the period 1995-2005 which reminded me that a certain Stuart Brasier used to be a prolific contributor of articles during that period. He also had an article published in one of the mainstream mags about his layout Highworth.

Stuart's articles were mainly about wagons and I am sure he will forgive me if I say that he was an unabashed "rivet counter" as far as wagons are concerned. He was also very talented artistically and his weathered wagons looked fantastic.

I believe that Stuart was a member of Wolverhampton Model Railway club and that he contributed to their famous "Stoke Bank" OO layout.

Does anyone know if Stuart is still active in N Gauge ? He can't be more than 60 years old.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Joe

Hi Joe.  In September, last year, I went to the Bourneville Model Railway Exhibition.  Stuart Brasier was one of the demonstrators, with a display of his N gauge wagons, he was also scratchbuilding a touring caravan, in plasticard, with full interior, (because the oxford diecast offering was more Z scale).  He also had a selection of road vehicles that he had kit bashed.  Absolutely incredible modelling.
Regards, Ken.

I too went to the Bournville show and had a long conversation with Stuart. As Ken said, his work is exemplary. He is always willing to give hints and tips on his techniques.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.
