You love 'em – but they can be so annoying at times!

I may come in for some stick for this post, especially from the female lady members,
but here goes :-

My wife & I will have been married for 42 years this coming January, and still love each other and get on well together, but we each have some annoying little "habits" that can be frustrating to each other at times.

This time of year we have lots of friends out for Xmas & New Year, and seem to be going out almost every night (for a drink, for a meal, to a show or party, or just for a game of cards/rummikub/mexican train etc.)

When it is time to leave our apartment my wife says "Are you Ready", so I get up and open the front door for her.

It is then (and not before) she decides she needs to go to the Loo, so I wait outside patiently, and when she comes out lock the door behind me.

As soon as I have turned the key she says "Oh – think I might need a wrap tonight", so I unlock the doors again and she goes inside in search of a shawl/wrap/or cardigan. We then try setting forth once again, but she will then declare "Oh – the Sun is still shining I'd better get my sunglasses, and I might need my mobile phone as well", so the whole process is repeated.

About half an hour after telling me "It's time to go – are you ready" we eventually go on our way and I breathe a sigh of relief. It only takes me a couple of minutes to get ready to go out – why does it take women at least an hour beforehand, and then they decide they have forgotten something the minute they are out of the door.

After 42 years you think I would be used to these little "foibles" by now.

The little things you will miss if the worst should happen. :(
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

You're lucky. Mine waits until we're ten minutes or so into the journey before she "remembers" something.

As distinct from the lady boy members ??

Tsk tsk tsk, I'm surprised you have lasted this long  :D
When you have been married as long as I have ( cue violins ) you will :--

"Yes my dear ! ", hand her the walking stick rather than offer your arm.
"You go ahead whilst I just check that everythying is ok,"
then you sit a few minutes more to be sure she is waiting in the car (save you from doing same) and that she is not about to return.
You join her in the car and listen, without getting upset, " What took you so long, I've been waiting ages"

You see my son, they feel a lot better after they have had a little grump

Byegad

Surprised you've lasted over 40 years!

The first Mrs Begad lasted 12 years and had similar habits when it came to punctuality. So much so that I soon routinely told her the wrong time for any appointment. It was a sliding scale depending how 'smartly dressed' I thought she would want to be for an appointment so for a dinner dance I would tell her we had to be there by 6.30pm, when dinner was to be served at  8.00pm. To do otherwise would mean she messed about so much that we'd arrive so late that dinner was cold, or gone altogether.

It would seem gentlemen, that our experiences are somewhat similar.  I  will have been married 40 years in July 2016 (to the same delightful lady BTW) and yes, her 'time management' skills can at times be 'frustrating', a fact for which her ethnic group is renowned... As a result, when having to meet commitments one learns to 'factor-in' such 'possibilities' and 'mentally' add-on an extra 15 minutes 'just in case'.  Normally it works, but sometimes... ('nuff said).  Things do however become somewhat problematical when public transport is used and the knowledge that the No. 15 bus that has just departed ('missed') will not be back for another four hours, and her work (in another town) begins in 2 hours... When the transport also involves aircraft  and overseas travel, resolving  such situations can make for rather 'exciting' experiences...

However, despite such 'occurrences' Fozzie Bear's famous song still applies; and we really wouldn't have it any other way (although whether they feel the same way about us, is, of course, something about-which we never dare ask)... :)

Yep me too.

But pooh, I'm just a bear of little brain.

Fozzies song? Sorry, my fault; wrong character!!!!! :( :(  It was actually Rowlf the Dog's song from the Muppett Movie and correctly titled 'I hope that something better comes along'.

The opening verse:

'You can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em.
There's somethin' irresistible-ish about 'em.
We grin and bear it 'cause the nights are long.
I hope that somethin' better comes along..'

Sorry for the wrong reference.  The sentiments still apply.

Man spends the majority of his life looking for the ideal woman ... ...  ...

in the meantime he marries.

How many roads must a man walk down ... ... ... ... ... before he knows he's lost!

Mr Sprue

In the summer months my wife has a fetish for Ceasers Salad, which as most of will know it has those crunchy croutons in it......YES CRUNCHY!  :veryangry:

I don't know is it with age that ones hearing alters to be more sensitive to different pitches? When people eat that kind of food it sounds to me like some one walking up a gravel path!

Lawrence

Can't wait for Caz, Lorraine and our other lady members to read this.  I'm sure their replies will be well considered, explanatory and rip you all to shreds  ;D ;D
