Love the sound of the Pipes and Drums, when played well it is one of the most stirring and rousing sounds in the world.  Highland Cathedral is a particular of my (Wiltshire born) wife and I do so enjoy when the boys play the Black Bear whilst marching out of the castle as they bring the Edinburgh Tattoo to a close.
Braw stuff  :D

Byegad

Nothing like the Scottish bagpipes played in Scotland! Best heard from our house, some 100 miles South of the border. :DD

Seriously, as a tinnitus sufferer, the drones* of the pipes really do my head in.

* Is that the right word for the bits that play constant notes while the chanter** is played.
**Again is that the correct term???

Beats Morris dancing any day!

Fred Morrison is my favourite piper.  Here he plays 'The Train North Set', which is supposed to evoke the feeling of a train journey from Dublin to Dromore.  It was written by Tom Anderson.

For me it's always been Troy Donockley ever since I saw "You Slosh" a few times, and now with Nightwish, as well as Iona - quite different styles 8)

I really think they should have kept them!

You are a man with fine taste, if I may say so, though in my opinion Liam O'Flynn is the master.

Have you come across this one of Mr Morrison playing 'Rip the Calico' on the Transatlantic Sessions?

Thank you... Right back at you for that choice too...

Well, yes.  But I have a problem with those sessions because I really don't like a certain dobro player...
