There it is in black and white, further discussion would be superfluous.

We buy from Oxford because this is all that is available

If competition was there we would buy what we want not only what is available

The same argument about a small market is provided wrong with regards to locos and rolling stock. Look what competition has done for choice

I always think their range of models is a bit strange, with 6 different horseboxes ,
endless varieties of Landrovers, trolleybuses etc, however these must sell as the gaffer says "our decision making is  driven by the commercial realities."

The arrival of Sierras, Cavaliers and Astras in 1:76 might be a sign of things which could come in N. Seems cars are the most difficult area.

OD's Product Development Manager is ex-Corgi which might explain some of the odd choices of things which were in the Corgi 00 and 1/50 ranges, and then arrived in the OD N range but are not in the OD 00 range. A lot of a shortcut in the research stakes, even the liveries match the old Corgi Trackside and Collectables versions.

Wasn't this available @ Warley ?

With all retailers now. May have been available at Warley, but I was in Singapore so did not get there this year.

I still find their recent N range very disappointing, they released a great range quite quickly but in the last couple of years, things seem to have slowed significantly with a very fragmented range - modern lorries with no cars to match, no more 1960 cars and nothing in between. I do hope things change and make me eat my words which I will be delighted to do if the time comes. I find myself looking through their larger scale ranges and drooling wishes they would be done in N!!

Merry Christmas everyone

My Ribble Leyland Royal Tiger Coach (NLRT001) arrived today. The wheelbase is correct to scale so a whisker over 32mm. It should fit over the Tomytec BM-01 motorised chassis once I have removed the two pillars which are used to secure the chassis to the clear printed body, and hacked about 4mm off the rear overhang of the chassis. Might have to relocate some of the electronic gubbins near the back of the chasis too.

Prior to starting the motorising project I took the body off the new Leyland Royal Tiger (NLRT001). The interior of the coach is a disappointment. The real thing had an underfloor engine and the floor was about level with the top of the tyres. As you can see Oxford have placed the seats very low down - more like a modern low floor bus! There is also no allowance for the centre entrance. Anyone wanting to detail the interior might be best to install a new floor at seat cushion level and take it from there.

For the motorisation I will probably be heavily modifying the Tomytec chassis. To make it work I will need to turn the motor and drivetrain round fore and aft and lose the automatic stop - pause - restart facility.

After hacking up a perfectly good Tomytec chassis and still not getting a reliable installation, today I tried another approach using the Walthers/Tomytec chassis which has an adjustable wheelbase and much shorter rear overhang. The video shows a temporary installation, and I am now creating a frame to install in this body which will allow chassis to be exchanged so the coach can run while another chassis is being recharged. These chassis have a Lipo battery and charge through a USB connection.
