I am thinking of fitting these to my Peco Setrack and they look inexpensive and simple enough to fit, however I want to know if there are any hidden problems.  Do I need to remove sleepers or will it fit on top of them.  Any tips etc. ???

they simply clip to code 80 track. the lever fits  through any of the gaps in the webbing beneath the rail. You can also make your own extended lever arms to take the hand-held bit to the edge of the base board.

Does anyone know whether these work with code 55 track ?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

They are not designed for for code 55 track as they rely on the code 80 rail height to fit between the sleepers and the coupling pin. They also need the gap under the code 80 rail. Code 55 is 80 thou rail embedded into the sleepers so there is no gap for the operating arm beneath the rail plus the top of the rail is closer to the top of the sleeper i.e. the uncoupler is too tall for the gap.
I did do a modification to experiment with code 55 but the work involved is greater that making a bespoke version of the same specifically to fit code 55 track.

Thanks Elmo.

I played around with a bit of code 55 last night and I see what you mean.

You know, I've been aware of these units since year dot.... thinking back in 1987... "no, this isn't good enough for me, gotta be totally automatic hands off uncoupling... hence electrical or electromagnetic, etc"

But you have possibly just opened me eyes, Elmo!

My aging layout uses Code 80, so those units could be fitted.

My point is, I never, in all that time, thought of extending the handle out to the edge of the baseboard!!

Thank you!

Thinking of using some of these myself, how difficult is it to hide the extended lever but still allow it to function?
