As already mentioned, Honda's ASIMO is an extremely impressive piece of kit.

QI had "him" on a few series back and he walked around the studio, carried drinks, climbed stairs, ran (very cool) and danced with Jo Brand.

Granted the ones in the clip above are a bit wobbly but I bet they have nowhere meet the cash of Honda behind them.

To be honest, IMHO, walking robots are a bit of a gimmick. Agree with comment about about wheels and tracks, plus US research into 4 legged robotics is very advanced now.

For me, the really scary thing is Drones. There are some out there which are small but so powerful now that there rate of climb and manoeuvre capability would make them extremely good spy machines. Add AI to the mix....have you seen the "HK" machines in the "Terminator" franchise?!

Ha ha MPN.

Drones: I was at a local tourist spot a couple of weeks ago (Kiama blowhole - first time in years), and some so and so was flying one all over the site.

At one point it was hovering so close to me with video going, I assume, I nearly swiped it into the blowhole.

Gonna be interesting how the law copes with this nonsense....

But how are they gonna police it?!

Anti- drone missile next thing.

PS Robots have already taken over, they work behind the

Amazon want to use drones for deliveries.  Can you imagine what it would be like if they, and some of the 'cowboy' delivery companies had thousands of these things flying over every town and city!

Sorry, you were out so our drone dropped your expensive new locomotive behind the bin (from 50 feet). Have a nice day. '

Then there would be war in the air when the Indian takeaways and Chinese takeaways and all of the others tried to mess with one another.  Curry bombs whistling past yer ear holes...

Let's not forget all those nice people keen to relieve the poor labouring drones of their valuable loads.

Indeed yes.  I'm thinking high power air guns might be a good businesses to invest in...
I should order one from Amazon before the drone deliveries get going.   It'll be useful when the zombie apocalypse starts too.....

I think if anything,  it would lower my morale! I'd be wondering if I was the next to get axed....

Electrocutions will continue until morale improves.

Meanwhile sentence like this:
Whether it's showcasing the potential of robotics for brand interaction
make me want to beat the nearest brick wall against my head.
