Help or ideas needed re a rail junction/points system.

Any ideas as to how I can replicate the junction in the red box especialy the arrowed section.

In all essence its a double crossover but with one of the points being a double slip. (I think)

That's either going to need some serious scratchbuilding or heavy mods of proprietary items.

For the latter, you could use a Peco code 55 double slip and combine it with their scissors crossing, with some modification to remove part of the scissors and graft in the double slip.

Unfortunately Kato don't do a double slip (the Tomix Finetrack range has them, but they're hard to get hold of).

Yup, there is no way to reproduce that formation using RTR track. You would either need to lay your own track or heavily butcher stuff out of the packet.

You could achieve the same operational effect by having a scissor cross-over followed by a normal point. Not as cool but it does the same job and would be a lot easier if you are not confident of building/modifying your own track.

Somehow I think that the only way to get a formation like that (especially with all the curves of the prototype picture), is to scratchbuild it, and as Dr Al says, that is indeed a serious bit of scratchbuilding.

If you look at the rail configuration you will see that it is not a 'double slip' as such, more of a 1¹/₂ slip 

I may in the end get close to it but, not quite 

Cut along the red lines, slip the points into the cut out section of the double crossover and secure together.
Slightly out of line maybe but, its as close as I will get.

Do you reckon it's worth hacking into those two bits to close the inch and a half gap? I have a set of #6 points which need a bit of solder on one contact and may or may not need a bit of adjusting inside (I've not been brave enough to open them up) - make me an offer if you want something to chop about!
