I REALLY appreciate your trying to help but things are just getting too complicated!

Those who have the knowledge please quote me a price for making up 40 odd Blue LED's with 20 Cm cables and resistors (If needed) and I will pay up.  (After the 12th. of July, pension is paid on that date!)

I am getting so cheesed off with the whole thing I feel like throwing in the towel!

John, that is a very creditable response from you but we really need to understand what the problem is don't you think.
I would hate to think that you'd spend your time, in all good faith, to provide Peter with new LED's to find they all blow up again. We don't know what's causing them to blow up so we need to sort that out first. Just my opinion.

My friend, John, thank you for a brilliant offer BUT.......

I DO NOT know which LED's, resistors etc. etc. I should be purchasing, if an advertisement stated that the pre-wired were suitable for 12 volts DC then that was good enough for me!

I could order new LED's and all the bits but exactly the same problem might arise?   Then, as another poster (Austinbob) stated all your wonderful efforts would have been in vain and I couldn't face telling you following your input!

I have just added a post to my other (LED failure) thread which might have some bearing on my predicament?

Just as a matter of interest Peter, if you have a multimeter, measure on the resistance range across the ends of the bits of wire. With the prods one way round, you should measure infinity, the other way round should show the value of the resistor.

Geez, Malc, you're making me hanker after an analogue meter! You can still get new ones, you know!

Anyway back on topic, good suggestion and look forward to hear Peter's response.

If Peter has a multimeter he could check the voltage of his power supply to check the voltage is ok. If it is then he won't need to by another as is being discussed in his other thread.

Thank you everyone, YES, I have a multimeter BUT, I do not know how to use it!

I can use it to test IF there is a live connection by the needle moving but other than that ??

I do not understand the instructions!  I have never set it up by following what to me is gobbledegook in the instruction leaflet!

I could probably blow it up like I did with my last one, that was easy but not much fun!

Exactly my situation, Peter!! If I need to use it as more than a circuit tester, I get my significant other to help me as she is wise in all things.

My Dad was an electronics engineer who helped develop colour TV. Where did those genes all go?
