Hello all,

Any recommendations as to the right sort of cross-arm pantograph for a Class 87 locomotive?

Tomix have a selection, but any insight would be appreciated.

Based on the picture that can be found on Wikipedia and on pictures of Lima's models (in OO gauge), I would say that you should choose one of these two:

I can't see what the differences are between these two models.

Nor could I! So probably doesn't matter much...

As it happened, I had the Lima model back in the 80s; I thought it was quite a nice model at the time. Lima made a big deal of the fact you could run it from the pantograph if you wanted, allowing two models to run on the same track. One powered from the overhead wire, and the other from the rails.

Unlike most UK (and European) pantographs, the Class 87 original pantographs famously crossed at the base, so PS 4816 is the only accurate representation of this type IMHO
