Having seen the massive club room in Dave's (Minzapint) post, I was wondering just what the largest N layouts are, say in 3 classes, Home,  Club/exhibition, and Modular. Maybe exclude the commercial ones.

I had a loft layout back in the late 80s/early 90s 25' x 17' (17x12 plus 8x13) L shaped, but that's probably long gone, we sold the house with it in place (minus stock and controls) in '92 (in Weston Super Mud)

In club layouts Basingstoke is about the largest I've seen, needs about 30'x15' at exhibitions so probably about 30'x10' or 12'

As for modular, the largest I've seen  was the continental (German?) one at the first TINGS, wouldn't like to guess at that!

No doubt there are far larger ones than those,
Cheers MIKE

I have a video of an American N scale layout that is 60ft long 35ft wide and rises 15ft above the baseboard I think that would have to be a contender, the layout is located in  :D wouldn't you know it "Texas"

Long Line was at Warley this year at about 110ft long, this is not a module layout so is probably the longest N Gauge layout on the exhibition circuit.

My layout used to be The High WYCOMBE clubs which I Bought about 25 years ago It was then one of the biggest on the exhibition circuit it is 20ft x8ft although the base boards are only 18 inches wide in the front and the fiddle yard and 2ft wide on the end boards .
The layout has been heavily modified so much that one of the club members didn't recognise it only the station he built..
One layout I remember helping on was Starbeck Bridge that was quite big but I don't remember the length.

Bob as a current Leyland Member I remember Starbeck with some affection, it was 32 feet long by 3 feet wide but 6 feet wide at Coryburn end. The layout was sold to a gent in the Ipswich area but we have heard nothing of it's whereabouts since. We did keep hold of Coryburn, the branch terminus, as this was used as part of another club layout "Burnbeck" and has been shown as a stand alone with its own fiddle yard at last years Northern Meet up in Bamber Brisdge

Thanks Steve
I was seconded !! That's a polite way of saying dumped at the branch line end when it was at I think the NEC  I was there for about 2 and a half hours , don't tell anyone but I secretly quite enjoyed it. I'm sorry that your not sure wether it's still running or not ,in my opinion it was a great layout and it was great to see full length trains that weren't  catching their tails up.
Grange over Sands is also another great layout.even if the ocasional train catches fire ,love the moving vehicles on it.

Our new layout, "Heatherley" is 16 feet by 40 inches. Twin running lines with a branch leading to a working quarry, loads stone into waiting wagons, will be at Southport in November, this also has the faller bus system running on it. Club Open day 11th April 2015 10.00-16.30 @ the club rooms, see website for full details, these will be added in the next day or two. Free entry

I would love to visit but that's a bit too far  from High Wycombe ,but I'm sure I'll
See it at an exhibition somewhere .
