My wife runs a website for a local church, using Joomla.

For years we have been using Easyspace as a host. However, we have recently been getting some problems with them, the latest being, that they have wiped the MYSQL database clean.  :veryangry:

The site has a couple of galleries and a weekly upload of the latest sermons.

My wife has become very wary of Easyspace, due to very slow response to problems and what feels like spiraling costs. Can anyone recommend an alternate hosting company, which we could load our Joomla Database onto and transfer out domain name.

Moonfruit is good I use it for county rolling stock site and scale148. My misses uses it for her swimming club and I used it to set up Ancorton Models website.

I use godaddy to buy and keep domains and for email account. I did not like their hosting site as it was expensive for what you get and not easy to use.

I use Moonfruit too for a very basic website for my partner's music duo. Very easy to use if your requirements aren't too complicated.

Since I lost my free webspace when we told Tiscali (aka TalkTalk) where to stick their broadband service I've used Fasthosts for my website - service has been impeccable so far and the one time there was a problem it was solved within hours and regular updates were received almost hourly

Hi Bob,
I use doteasy.com for several websites. It sounds like your requirements wouldn't need more than the basic, but it's not free. I pay $2 a month. The service is very quick and professional, if you have any issues. I'm sure they do sql, but i have no idea what it's for or what costs. They also offer 'unlimited' hosting for $10 a month, but i don't think you need that.

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

you could use Mr Site, I use Streamline for my hosting and dreamweaver for putting up the pages, takes some getting used to but not bad package in the end.  Other sites you could use are 1and1 or just google search and see what is in the top 10.

Thanks for the comments folks.

My wife and I have been doing research and talking to the church deacons. 1and1 have a very good offer on for the first year hosting. So we have decided to go that route. They also load Joomla for us, ready for us to load our website.

I use Just Host and found them to be fine, especially when I needed help. They respond quickly to emails too. Probably not the cheapest now so may look to change (based on the recommendations in this post )
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

I have used 1and1 for many years for my Ltd. Co. web site, and have had no problems.  Having said that, my son set it all up for me and does all my updates etc.

Managed to get my wife's church website up and running (95-99%) on the new 1and1 server. Thanks for the help and advise we received.

We have now got to go through it and find any of the wrinkles left from the transfer.
