Hi have recently read C6250's excellent tutorial on converting a Del Prado to motorised,it got me thinking about my own crocodile for conversion. This is one of my all time favourite locos but so far the cheapest one I have found is £135 secondhand on fleabay! So as there are a lot of said Del Prados out there I was wondering if anybody has converted one,or can give me ideas as to a suitable chassis motor combination. Photos of said animal should be below now I can post them!

The Del Prado croc looks a bit short to me compared with the Kitmaster one ?

Best regards,

Joe

Good point Joe I hadn't realised it was that far out can we cut and extend loco like I did with the 1:50 trucks I played with guess so but tricky with all that detail.  :hmmm:

Thanks for that Joe yes there are many different types even narrow  gauge most of which I believe are in preservation the one I want is the long nosed twin pantograph one so guess it's bite the bullet no pints for a month or two and save the pocket money time!! All the best Andy.   :unimpressed:

Have a look  at this chart Andy to find a power chassis suitable for  your loco   possibly.

Nice one Upnick that will come in very handy think the chances of finding a match are fading as Joe said it is undersized it was a nice idea but not going to shelve it yet!  :)

This is a model of the Rhätische Bahn (RhB) Crocodile.

The RhB has 5 (I think) preserved and occasional takes them out for a gallop in regular service.

I personally have a very very soft spot for the RhB and this is a link to their Crocodile:-

And this a link to a very nice model by Bemo.  I have 4 :-
