I often get an email when a reply has been posted to a topic I'm watching. I've found recently that I often get the message "Outlook has stopped working" and then it crashes when I follow the link from the e to the forum. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon or know of a solution. Not a big issue, but a bit of a pain.

The solution is called Firefox with the Thunderbird program. You can import all of your Outlook stuff without loss including saved folders.

Ray,

Not everyone wants to use that.

Bob,

Are you keeping your system up-to-date re MS patching ?  You've not said what version of Outlook you're using, neither if it is the freebie or the proper client out of the Office suite.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I am running Windows 7 SP1 with all the latest updates, MS Office Professional Plus 2010 and IE7.

Thanks, Only Me - I'll have a look at my settings. The thing that puzzles me though is the fact that it only occurs when I link to this forum. It doesn't happen with any other link.

Switch to Linux :)

No, but the Thunderbird solution is a perfectly valid 1.

Also, you coud try backing up your emails, and recreating the outlook datafile

Or, first off try repairing your outlook datafile, follow these instructions

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/outlook-help/repair-outlook-data-files-pst-and-ost-HA010075831.aspx

But, in all honesty, it is worth looking at a Linux install, yu can try a few, without actually having to install it, either by running it off a usb drive, or a 'live' dvd/cd

Strange you're only having a problem with the link to this forum, though, Bob.

There's probably a simple answer somewhere that maybe could even be explained from our end.... unfortunately I don't know enough computrickery to help.  :worried:
