I have not had my N gauge rolling stock very long but just recently been having a problem with the odd coupling and it's spring becoming dislodged from it's host.
Happened on a Dapol Class 73, a Graham Farish engine, and a couple of wagons & carriages.

Have struggled to refit them after finding them - is there a simple way (trick) to refitting such small components? My eyes are not all that good and holding the coupling between my fingers I have found difficult whilst at the same time trying to keep the spring in place.

Eventually managed the last one using a tiny electrical screwdriver to locate the spring back in place then manually pushing it in with the coupling held between my fingers. Had to take off the plastic body (on the CL73) first to gain better access.

Ah those wonderful springs :D

This might help - LINK ;)

Ah yes.. the sprung couplings... probably the next N gauge nightmare after fishplate injuries.

Good tutorial, Paul - forgot to thank you for it. Had a very quick look at it during me Euroadventure - not sure why I saw it there... mustn't have been anything on telly that night! ;D

George

The glue does take to that plastic, then?

Thanks for the Link Paul - I posted a Thank You in the Link Thread itself - very useful.

Yep, don't want to make the spring unspringy.... Zebedee and Dougal wouldn't like that! Mind you, wasn't there an engine that used to chuff around on that show? Or am I getting confused with My Little Pony  :D

Whoa. I'm getting off topic here. Time for moderation!

Thanks Paul!

A seriously good tip with a professional vid.  :thankyousign:

Geez, I think we all must have been on drugs. Apparently when the BBC got hold of that, wherever from, (France, maybe?) they couldn't make sense of it either so the commentary was added as they watched it and tried to put some sort of coherent narrative to the whole thing.

Anyway, two points here:

Thanks for posting that as it brought back memories (not necessarily welcome)....  :'(

And as I have been told today on several occasions - OFF TOPIC!!  ;D

And Zebedee said, time for bed.  :bounce: Boing, boing.

Dee dee dee, dee dee dee, dee dee dah

Edit: Should have superglued his little spring, I reckon  :D

Funny, I thought that was meant for sticking fingers to tweezer handles at a distance of at least 10cm from where you applied the glue......
