Sorry guys,

Could not resist posting up a picture of my new present sitting on my layout.

Next job will be to chip it for DCC.

Gavin.

Gavin, the Deltic was released by Farish with a pair of crimson and cream Stanier coaches as the Merseyside Express train set

Farish stock code 370-275.

Hope that helps.

Cheers, Timmo

I had a Kitmaster model as a kid and that is definitely on my wish list - but having just acquired a Blue Pullman (and driving the mods crazy in the process  :D), it will remain there for some time, methinks.

The newer stuff is much better detailed and I'm told more accurately modelled. The DP1 is rather good!

Thanks Timmo. I have some crimson and cream stock as well as maroon so looks like I'm ready to roll.

It's my birthday today.   :) 41 for my sins.

That's quite a few sins. Mind you, I can talk. Happy (belated) birthday. :)

Here's a simulator 'movie' link
BR DP1 Deltic In Detail

Looks like the simulator is suggesting maroon MK1s but happy to be corrected.

The Deltic in the simulator sounds very wimpish to me. Where's the roaring engine, the vibrating, rumbling platform as it thunders its way past? I remember train-spotting in North London in the mid-seventies and enjoying the feeling of power as each Deltic hurled itself through the station. This simulation just doesn't do it for me.

Didn't have the sound up Pete so you may well be right!

The link was to see if it suggested what coaches were being pulled. And it did!  :D

DP1 was first allocated to the London Midland Region in 1955 initially on freight and then hauled express trains such as the Merseyside Express and the Manxman between Euston and Liverpool Lime Street.
In 1959 it was transferred to the Eastern Region where it spent much of its time on Kings Cross-Leeds expresses.

Appropriate carriages would be LMS Stanier designs and Mk1s in crimson/cream, later on maroon on the LM Region, and Gresley and Thompson stock with Mk1s on the Eastern.

Love the Deltic and just built my first Metcalfe kit and I must say I'm quite impressed with it! That Deltic looks great on your layout!

Hey,

It's my birthday today.   :) 41 for my sins.

Anyway the Mrs bestowed me with gifts. What a lucky man I am!  :bounce:

Gavin.
Lucky man indeed!
She is definitely a keeper that one. :D
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.
