tomix track cleaner

Hi all, I have today ordered a tomix track cleaner from osbornes models, £49.00 plus the extras. Does anyone know if these are any good?? and im serious now

Very effective bit of kit

but beware if you use the heavy duty sanding (?) discs because they grind metal off your rail tops quite dramatically. The trick I found was to make sure the adaptor they stick to are pushed right home on its spigot and even then pass over the track quickly. I always push it round the track using 'the hand of God' rather than an engine

The vacuum function should be useful, but for cleaning there's nothing that's been found to work better than a homemade version using a piece of hardboard as shown here. http://wpporter.duckburg.us/trackcleaner.htm

Hardboard seems to have been invented by a chap named Mason, that's why the Americans call it Masonite.

Noch do something that works in the same way in as far as it hangs beneath a wagon and although I have a pack Ive still to test them out.

They look like a copy of the GaugeMaster version. They're ok for getting the dust off...

I have two wagons by Roco. I haven't got a photo, but this eBay link has a similar model. They're great at cleaning the track.

That looks a lot like my Minitrix cleaning wagon. I've also got a Mill Lane sidings track mop, which is also pretty good.

Any idea where I can get new pads from? Osborns have sold out.

I'm also hoping to DCC it.

Hi Tank,

I see from your other thread you have the Cleaner now it needs either a hardwire with decoder or a six pin decoder and replacement board from Germany to convert it to DCC (i have a spare board new in its pack in the cupboard if you need it) the six pin decoder needs the pins bending at right angles neatly to get the decoder in.

Hardwire using TCS M1 decoder & original board from Tomix.

You can get the conversion boards from Dapol if they have them in stock give them a ring & enquire
