Friends,
You are probably aware of my wish to make up a train to run as the "Golden Arrow"?

To that end I have purchased the set of decals etc.. from "Precision Labels" to transform the sides of the carriages with the arrow logo and the names of each carriage.

My question is this:- On the sheet of decals it states that "Use only 0646 Diner Coaches- Not 0656 Brakes"!

Why is this?  Do the brake vans have no decoration?

.........................................................."......................................................

Since 7 carriages are required for all the decals to be used I had thought of using one of the 3 "Brakes" I have, as the "Triannon Bar" which would cover  the sides as well as alleviate my purchasing yet another carriage, what are your thoughts?

Regards, Peter.

Those are the 57ft poole farish coaches not the new mark 1 type. Why no brakes I'm not sure. Could be it ran with non pullman brakes or bg. Chech the coach formation

Hi

Depends what era you are doing, as during the 1950's it started to run with a mixture of Pullman Cars and BR Green MK1,hence the no Brake Pullman, that would have been a Brake Second, not sure if it would be a BSK or BSO,not sure what Southern Region brakes were painted green.

Loco's for Golden Arrow pre war Lord Nelson,Post war BR Standard 7 Britannia Class, WC\BB\MN,sometimes if heavily loaded it was piloted by L1 4-4-0,at times it had 1 of the Bullied diesels 10201\2\3 hauling it

The 2 Britannia's were Iron Duke and William Shakespeare

Hope this helps

Mike, thankyou for your detailed reply.

I can see that I will have to do some more research, not only on the rakes but also all the initials you are quoting, they mean absolutely nothing to me!

Nevertheless, I am learning all the time!

In my youth I saw the "William Shakespeare" up close and intimate and that is the one I am starting with, then, if finances allow, it will be the "Spam Can" (Horrible title) as the next generation.  Not sure which one but I suspect it will be "Biggin Hill" since it was only 3 miles away as the crow flies from my home.

Thankyou again, Peter.
