Hi to all, I currently use a very old digital camera which has seen better days. I want to upgrade to a more modern camera, only this time I also want it to be able to shoot video as well. I have been looking around but I am totally overwhelmed with the number and styles available. I want something under £200 that can take stills and vids and will allow the images to be simply transferred to my laptop. It doesn't need to be super duper in either department just images acceptable for a happy amateur.
Regards
Ian

Hi Ian,

I have been using a Sanyo Xacti camcorder for a few years.  One of the good features of this camcorder is when you are shooting video you can press a button and take a photograph at the same time which does not affect the video.

I recently bought a newer version, Sanyo Xacti CG 10, on eBay which has widescreen and still has the taking a photograph whilst shooting a video function.

It is compact, fits in your pocket and uses an SD card for storage.

Well worth having a look at  ;)

cheers John.

Nearly all the consumer cameras on the market will shoot video of some sort. Do you need HD footage or would you just like to take a bit of it now and then and mainly use the camera for stills? What kind of subjects will you be shooting?

I would be happy to answer any technical questions for you via PM or via email on dan@danbarlowphotography.co.uk
