Hi. I have been trying to reduce my stock of about 50 British Outline DCC fitted locomotives. I find dealers keep telling me why it is hard for them to re-sell DCC locos. I get the impression that some dealers want to get stock for next to nothing. I also cannot understand why N Gauge new prices have gone through the roof.

Can anyone point me to fair dealers that they have dealt with.

Hi Big Dave, and welcome to the forum
I have never sold anything to dealers but just happen to have had a leaflet from Rails of Sheffield stating that during October they are offering an extra 10% on any cash deal and an extra 20% for part exchange. Note the word 'extra', although I have no idea what the starting offer would be. Send them a list by e mail, letter, fax or phone - might be worth a punt. I have no connection to Rails other than as a satisfied customer.

I think this is a combination of the far better offerings from the manufacturers currently than previously experienced by N gauge modellers and the greatly increased costs of manufacturing in China (higher wages, shipping costs etc).
New models are also subjected to a maximum 15% discount off full retail price on release.

Dealers are probably the worst way to sell. Why not cut out the middleman and sell them on Ebay yourself? At least that way you will get whatever someone is willing to pay

Or wait until you've got 10 posts under your belt on here and sell them through our Classifieds section

I'd say
- decoder fitted, put the blanking plate back sell the two separately
- converted then on ebay it may be worth selling it converted, some conversions are a pain so may go for more

Dealers will IMHO tell you anything you offer then is "hard to sell", "doing you a favour mate" etc and usually offer about 40% under ebay prices.

Right but you want to *sell* the dealer who sells the most overpriced stuff and gets you the best price for selling.
