With all this talk of new a manufacturer on the block, I thought it might be a good idea to give modernimagemodels it's own thread.
I hadn't heard of this kit manufacturer until a friend gave me a flyer he picked up at TINGS. And then it was mentioned in the DJM thread. However, the chap behind this venture may well be familiar to people, David Lund. He has posted extensively on the dark side but i had lost touch with his builds cos I really don't like going on RMWeb. I don't think he posts on here  ???
Having looked at the website David has produced it looks like the kits he is selling are really first class. Especially if you like yellow trains. They are 3d prints but as completed models they look very good.
Has anyone bought and built one of David's kits yet?

Cheers

He oosts lots of stuff on Facebook if anyone is interested. If you are already on facebook just search for Modern Image Models then like his page for regular updates.

He also posts on N gauge facebook page as well for input from those of us that are members of the N Gauge group to gauge reaction and opinions. He posted a question regarding a Cowans Breakdown Crane yesterday akthough as its not really my need for such models just yet,I didn't bother looking at any comments he received.

I won't rule out buying any of his kits at a later date but from what I saw of his completed selection of models at TINGS,they are very good looking items that will no doubt find rheir way onto some layouts.

Prices seem ok too.

To be fair though nearly all (MIM)Dave's posts  are in the specialised 3d print  section on the other place, where there is a bigger/wider community of those interested in the "art" of 3D printing.

What is it with name Dave and being  more than halfway decent modeller.... now where did i put that deed poll application.....

I have purchased, and posted on this forum on some of his 3D stuff, although these languish in my 'to do' drawer as I focus on my layout construction with the limited mobility I 'enjoy'

I did put a topic up on this forum way back in February on his original offering, the Pendolino set:
http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=11205.0
when he was selling these through Shapeways as Bmthtrains.  He had previously made a decent set for himself based on Farish Mk 4 coaches but, wanting something more, went through evening classes to learn the basics of 3D design and printing.  He couldn't afford the 'finer' materials available at the time and has now withdrawn the set, now actively having test prints produced for an upgraded offering produced.
I posted this of the Kirow crane last month:
[smg id=6479]
and his GSM-R mast set, top right on here:
[smg id=6010]
back in July, the other items from Etched Pixel and Paul Burkitt-Gray.
The quality of his work is excellent, from personal experience his interaction friendly and informed, and he's at Uni very soon pursuing greater skills...

Usual disclaimer, simply a very happy bunny customer, I already have the bogies for the IQA nuclear flask wagon he's fine-tuning the design of from that displayed at TINGS

HTH.

Hi everyone, thanks to Kirky for starting this thread - it's all gone a bit mad since the N Gauge show, so trying to catch up with everything!

I will try and pop updates on here, but as mentioned generally facebook or RMWeb are my main posting sites.

As I have left my career to study at university this summer, product development will slow a bit due to less' investment funds', and my hope is any income from the models will pay for future ones - effectively a self-funding hobby.

Plenty more yellow stuff in the pipeline!

David

Following the Pendolino progress with interest. Will only be able to run a shorter version on my layout but there have been plans for 5 car 'baby' Pendolini on the big railway.
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

Don't forget to keep tending your layouts David, they're always absolutely stunning!

I'm keeping an eye on the Pendolino, very impressive indeed.

My brain won't cope with the photo upload on here this late in the day, but there are some pics of some new wagon designs on my facebook page that might be of interest...

Hmm, I'm confused. How is this advertising, and yet the engineers wagons by richard at CRS is not? Seems a bit unfair to me, or am I missing something?
