Hi all,

I've painted my Blue Pullman to have the yellow ends more normally associated with the trains. It still needs a couple of jobs doing to it and I just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction?

I need to get jumper cables, as shown in this picture. Can anyone suggest anything suitable? It doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd like to get it as near as possible. I know that I'll probably have to scratch build part of them but it would be great to get a head start.

Lastly, I need transfers as the Midland Pullman branding needs removing and replacing with just the word 'Pullman' where 'Midland' is currently. Does anyone know of anybody who makes N gauge Blue Pullman transfers?

Progress so far:

All help much appreciated!

The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Mike,

As per your supplied photograph are you going to model the damaged headlight  ;) ;)

That would be an interesting talking point  :D :D

Neal.

Hi,
Hardly had they arrived when Pixie, on another forum posted:

and then discovered the weren't any transfers...  I've not seen further posts... but Fox Transfers do them in the rather odd scales of 4mm and 7mm, so might it be worth asking  ???
The cable sockets were resin cast from moulds taken from those on the corridor ends  8)

Adam hasn't I believe done decals for a long long time (since his original printer setup failed) and vinyls won't work for that kind of application.

For anything which is older (ie out of the modern pathetic mire of 'intellectual property rights' and fascist corporate lawyers) there is no such thing as "weren't any transfers" because there are numerous companies and individuals who produce one off decals to order.

Costs vary but if you can find a suitable font it's usually very cheap. I actually tend to batch up things like N gauge coach numbers and do them this way rather than fiddle with tiny little letters!

For the jumper cables some of the RTR ones are available as spares and you can also make them out of nothing more than very fine wire and a little cube of plasticard for the thicker types like the pullman. For the fine modern ones Bernard (TPM) does a handy etch

Thanks for the replies guys.

Alan, when you say the RTR ones are available as spares, what part are you referring to? I didn't notice any jumper cables with the BP, but I might be mistaken (I was possibly a little pre-occupied with the unit itself when I first bought it!)

Quite a few RTR locos (UK and non UK) include jumper cables of various forms. Many of the newer ones are separate mouldings so often available as spares.

Great, I'll take a look, thanks, and get in touch with Precision about the decals.
