Anyone tried to kick the habit using these? I got one yesterday with a few different flavours and so far no urge to light a real one up

Tried one but it just didn't do it for me. I'm afraid
Mind you, 46 years or so of smoking is a lot to be undone

I bought one, not to help me stop, but for those times where it is not allowed to have a smoke like train journeys.
I find it very good for taking the craving away.
If I were to consider stopping, which my cardiologist would love to hear, I would use my electronic cigarette to help get through the rough times 
I have been puffing away for 45 years

I've been using an Ecig since March, when a cancerous polyp was found in my bowel, and so far haven't touched a "real" cig. As someone who have been smoking for 40 odd years it worked for me

They weren't wound when I became a non smoker.

I wouldn't recommend them, our any other kind of nicotine product as it will only prolong your agony. I have a colleague who quit using the gum and is now addicted to the gum!

I read Alan Carr's (not the comedian!) Easy Way to Stop Smoking and became a non smoker the moment I turned the last page. Honestly, it is a good book and helped me and at least 6 other people I know become non smokers. His writing style leaves a lot to be desired but read it with an open mind and it may just work for you as well.

By the way, I had tried several times to stop smoking before this and all had failed within a few days. When I did become a non smoker I didn't actually find it hard at all, it was very, very easy and my friends couldn't believe it either.

Stopped in March this year, use the baccy money to fund my model railway purchases. Have tried to stop before and always failed, the electronic ciggy did it for me. I had been smoking for 44 years.

I used patches to help me stop. Stopped when my daughter was 18 months old; she's 20 in September!
Had a chest x-ray as part of my routine medical at work and was told I had a shadow on my lung - scared me s***less at 32. It was nothing sinister, but enough of a wake-up call to stop. Haven't had a ciggy since & will never have another.

After 18 years Smoking i quit in Dec 2012. Its all in the mind. I went cold turkey and thats it!

Just after my 16th birthday ) so, this gave me the incentive to not smoke as crazy as it sounds!!

I understand the dilema many smokers face daily. For me £8.50 a pack of 20 snouts made me pack it up.

Ive already saved a mint, means more money for N Gauge!

My advice to people wanting to quit is go cold turkey. Good luck to anyone trying, and think of all the N Gauge goodies one can buy with the money saved!!

I bought an electric cigarette about 6 weeks ago after smoking for around 20 years, not had a "real fag" since and very few cravings.

I see the government are urgently looking for a way to tax them!

Did I not hear something about Wetherspoons banning them as the staff couldn't tell who was smoking a real or e cig

I heard they`d banned them too. Won`t take the Government long to get a part of it. I bought a starter kit (ECiggy, Case, Charger fluid etc) and enough fluid to last 10 weeks for £37. Ongoing cost estimated at £5 a week! 10 weeks of fags would have cost me £600 

If these take off then they will be losing a fortune in revenue so will want it from somewhere.

I have been smoking for 30 years, 2 weeks ago I bought a electronic ciggie, not because I had any plans to give up but I was standing in the queue at the range outlet shop and saw them for sale, wondered what they were like, and bought one. I have to say I’m impressed, I think that giving up anything can be very hard and what works for one person won’t work for everyone, I think you have to try different things to find the one that works for you, maybe I was lucky and hit straight away on the one for me without even realising it. My take on the electronic ciggie is that, for me, the ritual of smoking is the additive part the lighting up, the holding of a ciggie, the puffing in and blowing out and seeing the smoke, I have read that the nicotine from these ciggys don’t even get into your blood stream but for two weeks I have not bought a pack of proper ciggies. This has meant some odd side effects firstly my wallet has got fatter the notes seem to stay in there longer.  Secondly I visited Sissinghurst place last week and walking through the gardens there I could smell the flowers without putting my nose right next to them and taking a good sniff, lastly food tastes just like it did when I was a kid.  Electronic ciggie?....best thing since sliced bread.....which now tastes wonderful by the way.

All this is my experience of the last two weeks and some people will think it’s a collection of soft dangly bits.... well that’s just fine, if you want to give up smoking try the different options, you will hit on the one that works for you.

They wern't around when I gave up in 1996. I went to work one night and leaving Newport for Margam on a class 37 I pulled my cigarettes out and was devastated to see I had 1 lonely cigarette left in the pack. Damn.  I smoked the cigarette and while doing so thought this is my last one for at least 8 hours. If I can go 8 hours I can go the rest of my life, and that was that.......

A friend at work was using one, he's given up numerous times unsuccesfully and turned to an e-cig. I'll ask him how he got on with it tomorrow and report back.

Not to put a downer on this ... but I spent a week going 50/50 on rollies / eCigs, and ended up with a really bad throat, feeling sick and a bad chest to the point I had to stop. I was very disappointed because I'd been doing really well.

What I found out was that there are quite a few mixes of ingredients and strengths from which to choose - so it's not quite as straightforward as just going into a shop and buying the first thing off a shelf ... some experiment or additional research may be required first.

Just thought I'd mention that

After 50 years smoking a pipe, I've been using e-cig's for about 8 weeks now. I think it's working because I'm now cutting down the weakest cartridges that I can get. Ask again in another couple of months !
