If they sank it wouldn't be so bad, unfortunately a lot of them have a tendency to float at or just below surface level waiting for an unfortunate smaller craft to run into it...

do I hear a new excuse from Dapol for the non release of blue / grey buffets ......

That might not be entirely bad providing someone cleaning up the mess finds that container and salvages it.

I'm impressed that the ship has basically snapped into two without sinking. Someone got their engineering right.

Hmm, I don't think it's supposed to snap in half at the first sniff of bad weather. Sounds more like a dodgy cut and shut job.    Or probably badly loaded with unknown weight containers.

And I don't think Dapol can use the excuse of thier b/g Mk3 buffet cars being on it - they haven't even left China and are probably not even made. But they do have some other stuff, along with Farish, en route. 
So be prepared for the delays and excuses.

Containers lost overboard in 2007 held BMW motorbikes which were "salvaged" on a beach in Devon: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2007/jan/23/pollution.uknews

Watch out for corrosion if your bike is a 2007!

Many years ago we sent a container full of printed aluminium foil to Hershey in the USA and the vessel broke in two in a severe storm, with the aft section (luckily carrying the crew) staying afloat. We couldn't establish whether our container was in the aft section so had to airfreight a replacement shipment. Just over 2 months later we discovered our container was on the floating bit so we got our stuff back for future orders

Yep, almost certain. But some of the containers are still floating, so no doubt if they're salvaged you'll be able to convert the Ivatts in to fairly realistic 'paddle steamers'.

I see in the August RM Farish are advertising the Ivatt as "in shops soon" so hopefully they know they haven't sunk

The Bachmann website still has the two black ones down for Aug/Sept delivery but the green one appears about a month behind, so maybe there is still hope.

Or maybe....there were two containers.....and they have found one container but not the other
