Well Ive finally started to pick up a bit. On monday morning, we woke to the family cat Ben breathing extremely heavily and slowly. He has been getting worse over a few days but not at that speed so we made the decision to take him to the vets for the innevitable sleepy injection.

Hes been with us for 17ish years and hes had a great life with us too. It really hit me when we buried him and I gave him one last stroke. The place that hes buried I will be turning into a small flower bed and it will be the area that I read in the garden now the weathers picking up.

Going to be taking a break from modelling for a short while just till I get fully over it ( he used to sit with me whilst I modelled) and than I shall be back.

Hope everything is alright for everyone else on the forum whilst Im away.
OK who took my cake?

My sympathies ...

It's always sad when a long-time pet dies ...  several years ago, we lost our cat (old age, we'd had her since shortly after getting married 17 years earlier) and my wife stopped with one of her hobbies because the cat was often with her while making things, and giving her seal of approval (or not, as the case was) ... it's taken until earlier this month for her to restart.  We still miss her ...

Sad news of the loss of your pet, I'm sure you did the
right thing in letting him go rather than suffer a
painful decline.

My condolences on your loss :(

We lost our Maine Coon 'Molly' on christmas morning and still not entirely over it. She was 18 years old and was always there when you were ill or feeling down with a "tell me about it then" look ;)

The modelling and NGF will still be here when you're ready, take time out to reflect on all those good times and appreciate how lucky you were to have known him, and he you

Sorry to hear of your loss Mike its always heartbreaking to loose a pet.

We had to get our little 16 year old Chihuahua put down a while back, bloody devastating.

That journey is the worst you can make knowing you are going to come back on your own, I have done it many times.  Best thing to do is get a small bundle of mischief that will get in your way when modeling  ;)

Very sorry to hear that you lost your friend in this way. I lost a Cat in 2009 and it really does mess you up for a long time.
Its strange how pets become part of the family and how attatched we all become to them too.
With deepest sympathies for your loss, and kind regards.

So sad to lose a dear friend, all I can say is sorry for your loss, take it easy and reflect on the good times.

All the very best.

So very sorry to hear of your sad loss.  We lost our GSP after 13 years last November and are still coming to terms with losing her, so we understand how you must be feeling.  Best wishes Ian & Tracey.

Sorry to hear that you have lost your modelling buddy.  It seems quite a few of us have been there over the years.  I've outlived four cats so far.  Time passes and the happy memories stay as the hurt diminishes. We currently have 11 cats, so anticipate there being more of that to come.  There's nothing anyone can say to help, but I wish you all the best as you take your break from modelling. Mark.

I know how you feel.
Been there too like many others on here.
They're like family.
It's worse when you have to have them put down as you'd never do that to a family member.
Having a break will help get you 'back on track' as it were.
You'll always have the memories.

(Well, that depends on you're family I suppose!  >:D  :D)

If you've ever watched someone you know die of brain cancer you'd not think that way about it - believe me.

I've amended it Alan as I don't think like that. OK?
