Was the last programme the one where they all got blasted at the end?  I was about 14 so don't remember the details, but I do recall hearing one of the people behind it interviewed on Radio 4 and saying that the blasters could just have been set on stun, so there's still scope for a sequel...

Being a Blakes' 7 anorak I've all 52 episodes sitting nearby :)
Basically there was a lot of crossed wires and the whole crew and Blake got together at the end full of the mistrust that was the underlying theme of the whole series. Avon shot Blake and there was copious amounts of the red stuff. The Federation troops then turned up and each and every member of the crew were gunned down in slow motion just to make sure you knew they'd been shot. Last man standing was Avon standing astride Blakes' body surrounded by troopers. He had a gun in his hand and a smile on his face as the screen went black. All that was heard was multiple blaster fire.
I was about 12 when the last episode aired and couldn't believe what I'd just seen. The 'good' guys had lost and this was hot on the heels of The Empire Strikes Back where the good guys had also just lost. Surely that isn't supposed to happen.
I may have to dig the last episode out later and watch it again.

Blake's 7 is a series just crying out for a GOOD reboot - the concepts were brilliant and but over-ambitious for a 1980s BBC budget. I would rather have seen it done by the BBC, to the same quality as the new Docotor Whos than the "SyFy" channel, who brought us such wonders as "Sharktopus" and "Stonehenge Apocalypse".

If you've never seen "Sharktopus", you are missing a true classic!  :D

Since the demise of Star Trek, Stargate and Battlestar Galactica, there is a shortage of spaceship shows on the telly, so a new B7 will be more than welcome!

(As an aside, there was a rather nice plastic kit of the Liberator made a few years ago.....by Ratio)

The final scene is a classic. Particularly in sound only for the final coup de grace.

Hmm I dont remember this (only young  :D) but by the sounds of it I should maybe check the oldoriginal version out. I wonder if i could pick it up on dvd for a cheap'ish' price.....
OK who took my cake?

Blake 7 was one of my favourite shows.
I remember Blue Peter creating one of the wrist communicators out of a plastic bottle.
The good old days.
I had a lot of VHS tapes of Blake 7 that I regrettably sold a few years ago when I wanted money for  the new shiny DVD things.

Brilliant show shame I'm not on Sky.

I remember the Blue Peter Teleporter bracelets. One of my schoolfriends made one but it didn't look anything like the one on the telly.  ;D

Hmm, time for a little exercise in 3D printing perhaps?  :smiley-laughing:

Please god dont remake it, it'll be sh!te, like new red dwarfs.

Hi

I would have agreed with you until I watched Red Dwarf 10 which I thought was quite good.

For Gawd's sake

Well if they do a hashed up version so what? We still have the originals! I do remember watching it, was only 9 when it ended, so my recollections of it are not perfect.
Same with Dr Who. I saw the John Pertwee ones but remember the Tom Baker ones more clearly.

Now Space 1999 - thats something else. Flares in space is what I remember the most!
Whilst the idea itself was daft (the moon breaking orbit, god help us if it does that!) the sets weren't bad and the Eagle transporter ships were a pretty cool design I thought.
Had a few of the toy ones, can't remember who made them though. Probably quite collectable now!

Awesome show - I remember sitting with my Dad and watching it!

Still love sci-fi.  Lots of good examples of the genre around at the moment although not necessarily UK produced!

Will look forward to the reboot.
