Time for a lonely (modelling) hearts advert:

I live near Bedford and work near Cambridge and am looking for a club with a decent N gauge contingent and layout.
As far as I can tell my local club in Sandy only has 4mm layouts, so isn't quite right for me.

Ideally I'd like to find a friendly bunch of people with an interest in kit/scratchbuilding and who lean towards the finescale end of the spectrum,  That said I model in N, not 2FS (at least for the moment).

I can offer a group pretty good electrics/electronics skills, as well as my own metal working and 3D printing tools.

Alternatively, if no club exists, is there anyone in the area who is in the same boat as me?

Rabs,

If you're a member of the N Gauge Society, http://www.ngaugesociety.com/ then there's an area group near you. In fact they're the ones who built Horseley Fields http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/30801-horseley-fields-n-gauge-layout-was-dibben-junction/

I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms, and maybe a  :beers: or 2 in them as well  ;) ;)

Regards

Neal.

P.S. Did I mention Horseley Fields is at Trainwest in a couple of weeks  http://www.trainwest.org.uk/

The North Herts group meet twice a month in Stevenage and seeing where you live I can tell you we have 2 members from Biggleswade who think the journey is worth it. If you want to contact me off line I will be pleased to give you further details.

There are now three people at Sandy (East Beds MRS) who model N gauge, and the intention is to start an N gauge section of the society in the near future. The chairman was very keen on the idea of diversifying the club, as it has always been a OO group. PM me if you want any more information about the club, meeting venue etc.
