I am looking for some foam type material 1" to 2" thick so I can cut away sections easily for a stream, it would have to be in a size of 4 foot by 2 foot as so I can use it for the top of my base, if you know of anything that can help me, please could you point me in the right direction.

You should be able to get polystyrene/styrofoam (in packs of 6, don't remember precisely) from a DIY store. This kind of thing:

That looks like it might be less messy than the styrofoam insulation I suggested.
Come to think of it, there's a foam shop just round the corner from me here in The Hague that sells mattresses, cushions and various kinds of foam for them. Perhaps you have something near you?
